Why Forefoot Runners Don’t Pronate

Pronation is when the ankle tips inwards, down towards the ground, after the foot impacts the ground. It is part of the Mechanics of the Body that ONLY Occur When a runner allows their Heels to Contact the Ground.

Body Mechanics:   If we allow our Heels to Contact the Ground; Our foot becomes a Mechanism that wants to Tip the Ankle Left and Right. The Forefoot is one Pivot Point, The Heel is the Other Pivot Point, and the Length of the Foot Becomes The Axel. This Axel has the entire weight of the body over the top of it. This weight forces the foot to Hinge at this Axel. As a result, The foot will bend at the ankle to compensate for the shifting angles at the Axel. Once the inner foot and inner leg reach their full extension, They will then spring back. This mechanism is somewhat Rigid, Because Both of the Pivot Points are Locked into Position by the Ground. And because there isn’t much range of motion between the bottom of our foot and our ankle, nor up the Inner Leg. Also, The Tendons and Muscles in this area are Relatively Weak.

Body Mechanics:   If we stay up on our Forefoot; Our Foot becomes a Mechanism that wants to tip the Heel Backwards. The Forefoot is one Panel, The rest of the foot is the Other Panel, The Connection between these two panels is the Hinge. The Hinge has no weight right above it. The entire weight of the body is way back over the heel. As a result, The foot will bend at the ankle to compensate for the shifting angles in The Midfoot.This Position Reliably forces the Heel Straight Down, Inline With the Leg. Once the bottom of the foot and back of the Lower Leg reach full extension, They will spring back. This mechanism is Extremely Flexible, because Only the front panel (Forefoot)  is locked into position by the ground. In Reality, its Only Partially locked into position. Because of the elaborate skeletal structures in our forefoot, we can shape our hinge into position as needed to Adapt to the Variety of Angles Between Our Body and the Ground. We Can Even Keep the Hinge Partially Lifted. The Left Or Right side of the hinge can be kept lifted, or lifted instantly off of the ground in response to the varied ground conditions. This mechanism is also highly flexible because there is a large range of motion between our forefoot and our ankle, as well as up along the back of our leg. Also, The Tendons and Muscles in this area are Very Strong.

Heel Contact Turns our Foot Into a Rigid Hinge that Operates Left and Right. This movement  is in opposition to our forward movement. This movement is Hinged From the Ground, Forcing the Body to Line up in Relation to the Ground

Forefoot Running Turns our Foot into a Flexible Hinge that Operates Forwards and Backwards. This movement is in line with our Forward Movement, which creates Low Torque on the Joints, And Gives us our full elastic advantage from the Combination of;  our strong foot Arch, our giant Achilles Tendon, and the Large Leg Muscles that are All Lined up in this Same Forwards and Backwards Orientation. This movement is Hinged from within our foot, Allowing the Heel to Stay Lined Up with the Knee and Body, While being Gentle on the Ankle, and allowing the ground to be any angle it happens to be at.
